Intent to Return Survey Link

Towers High School Parents,

Please read the email below that is from Superintendent Cheryl Watson-Harris about Phase III school reopening.  We are asking that you complete the survey link below about your intent for your child to return to the building when the DeKalb County School District returns to a face-to-face model at some point in the future.

Students
As discussed in last week’s update, students continue learning in a distance/remote environment in Phase II before moving to Phase III.  In Phase III, parents/guardians have a choice of hybrid learning or distance/remote learning. The Intent to Return Form was distributed on October 9th so that parents/guardians can choose their preferred option for each child. The responses will allow local schools to organize students into small groups to maintain social distancing requirements in the classrooms during hybrid learning and to plan for the students who will continue learning virtually at home whenever Phase III begins.

The learning models for consideration are as follows:

Hybrid Learning Model (Combination of Face-to-Face and Distance/Remote Learning):

The hybrid learning model is designed for families who feel comfortable with returning their children to a face-to-face, in school environment blended with distance/remote learning. Students will have the opportunity to interact in person safely with their teachers and classmates. Families may opt for the distance/remote learning model at any time by completing a Change of Intent to Return Form at the local school

Students and staff will be required to wear face coverings or masks. Also, students will be required to bring their district-issued or personal electronic devices to school.

Distance/Remote Learning Model:

The distance/remote learning model is designed for families who do not feel comfortable with their children returning to school in a face-to-face format at this time.  The students will continue learning from home in a virtual format provided by the school. Families will have the opportunity to transition to the current in-person learning model at each 4.5-week grading interval by completing a Change of Intent to Return Form at the local school.

All families are encouraged to complete the Intent to Return Form by October 23, 2020.  Prior to completing the form, please obtain your child’s student identification number (lunch number or Chromebook login number). If you do not have your child’s student identification number, visit Parent Portal, check your child’s recent progress report, or contact your child’s teacher.

Preparing our scholars and their families for the next phases of our re-opening plan is a top priority. You can continue to expect regular updates regarding the re-opening plan via this newsletter, our DCSD webpage, school websites, school messenger and social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).
