The Opportunity Myth & Authentic Community Engagement

TNTP is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to end the injustice of educational inequality by providing excellent teachers to the students who need them most and by advancing policies and practices that ensure effective teaching in every classroom. Representatives from TNTP's Policy & Advocacy and Community Engagement teams will join us for our Fall 2019 Cross-Council meeting to discuss the organization's latest report, The Opportunity Myth, as well as TNTP's school transformation work in a learning lab of DCSD schools.  Click here to learn more about TNTP and to launch the interactive report.

Naviance College, Career, & Life Readiness Platform

DeKalb County School District is the first of the major Atlanta-area school systems to select Naviance as its exclusive college, career and life readiness (CCLR) platform.  Naviance is the most widely adopted CCLR platform in the country, with over 13 million students in 14,000 schools across the United States using its technology.   Naviance provides information and resources that enable school counselors, teachers, students, and parents to engage in meaningful conversations about how to assess a student’s options after high school. The platform arms students with the tools to explore, apply to, and enroll in a post-secondary path that is the best fit for the student, based on education and career goals, learning style, and personal preferences regarding where and how they would like to continue their education.
